About Burdett’s
53 years of moving Victoria on a foundation of technology
For more than 53 years, Burdett’s has supplied quarry materials and transport services across Victoria. Today the business employs around 120 people, operates from five locations, and runs a fleet of roughly 95 trucks and heavy vehicles.
Every day depends on technology, from dispatching drivers and tracking stock to keeping operations running across multiple sites. As the business grew, that dependence only deepened.
The Challenge
Support that no longer suited how the business ran
As Burdett’s continued to grow, technology became critical to every part of the operation. Their previous provider was technically capable, but the support model no longer suited the way the business worked.
The provider wasn’t local. If something failed, it could take hours before someone reached the site. Internal staff often found themselves trying to troubleshoot problems first, simply because waiting wasn’t always an option.
On top of that, the business was paying significantly more than it needed for managed IT services.

Engineers when critical
The difference wasn’t just technical. It changed the way the team felt about IT support.
Managed IT costs were reduced by around 50%, while response times improved considerably. When a firewall failed or an application stopped working, Burdett’s could speak directly with someone who understood their environment and, when needed, have an engineer on-site quickly.
Instead of feeling like another support ticket, they felt supported by people who understood the urgency of keeping operations moving.

Why Extreme
A local team they already knew and could trust
The team at Burdett’s already knew Extreme Networks, and that familiarity mattered. But so did the company’s approach.
Having a local IT partner meant they knew exactly who to call when something wasn’t working and knew someone could be there quickly if a situation became critical.
Just as importantly, recommendations were made in the best interests of the business, rather than simply to sell products or services.
A partner that shares the same values
Laura explained that Extreme Networks doesn’t recommend technology because it benefits Extreme Networks. They recommend it because it benefits the client.
For a family business that has built its reputation over five decades, having a technology partner that shares the same values has been just as important as technical expertise.
In their words
Straight from the Burdett’s team
When we’ve had issues or needed someone on site, we can’t fault them. I’d say 10 out of 10.
The advice Extreme Networks gives is for the benefit of our business, not for Extreme Networks.
