What is Extreme Networks About?
Extreme Networks is a family owned IT business based in Carrum Downs on the Mornington Peninsula. Our company was founded in 1999, with the aim of taking care of the computers whilst our customers take care of business.
Starting Small
We operated out of a spare room in our house for 3 years, until we employed 5 people and had a turnover of $700,000. One of our early wins was a contract with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, and the company picked up contracts looking after 17 Primary Schools in the local area. We still have the same brilliant engineer looking after some of those schools today! As the business grew, Extreme Networks moved into a Factory on Peninsula Blvd Seaford and the next year we were featured in the BRW Fast 100 as one of the fastest growing companies in Australia.
Soon after we became Microsoft Gold Certified Partners, capitalising on our growing skillsets around Small Business Server 2000 and 2003. We also started helping many customers who were using MYOB and developed a specialization around using Terminal Server to dramatically increase the performance of MYOB. We work closely with a range of MYOB consultants to provide their customers with stable and reliable servers that can support their growing MYOB datafiles.
Learning, training others and involvement in our community are some of the things we do to support our customers, and differentiate ourselves from our competitors.
Grow Fast
We soon outgrew our little Factory and moved just up the road to Hartnett Drive, where the company continued to add employees and grow our skillset. Soon, we added a team of web developers, who are extremely capable at building line of business applications, and the company now has an extremely talented application development team, responsible for building and maintaining several house hold name websites.
Our application development team has a mix of skills including an MBA from Mt Eliza Business School, 2 senior application developers and a graphics designer. In our spare time we built 4×4 Earth, the home of the National 4WD Tracks Database and a website that regularly gets in excess of 250,000 visits per month..

Our sister company Marketing4Restaurants.com is recognized as a leader in digital marketing for restaurants, cafes and take aways. Here James presents the Best Specialty Restaurant awards at the 2012 Restaurant and Catering Awards in Brisbane.
Build Solutions
Today, we have a team of 16, including Microsoft Exchange 2013, SQL server, Terminal and Small Business Server 2011 experts, Microsoft .Net, Azure and PHP developers. We look after accountants, lawyers, doctors, hospitals, manufacturers, hospitality and a whole range of other small business industries.
Our 4 key values, since 2003, are Fun, Learning, Communication and Ownership. These values underpin our planning, behaviour and culture and help us to achieve our Mission – which is “To solve Small Business problems.”
Professional development and planning is critical for the success of any business. Here, Dr Larry Little, author of ‘Making a Difference’ works with Team Extreme on improving intra company dynamics and increasing customer service through better understanding of different personality types, as part of our two day 2013 planning session.
