Extreme Networks awarded Victorian ADF Employer Support Award 2022.

Oct 11, 2022 | Leadership, News

Team Extreme has been awarded the Private Sector Small Business Employer Support Award.  The award is a recognition for the great work that the Team put in whilst James Eling was deployed with Joint Task Group 692.2 as a part of the Federal Government’s support to the State’s response to Covid-19. During James’ absence, Tina Eling stepped up to run the company.  The period 2020 – 2022 was particularly trying because of the stress of COVID-19 on the team and customers along with all of the restrictions that were in place, all whilst Extreme Networks was working hard to support thousands of users across Dandenong, Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.

The award from the ADF Reserve and Employer Support states, “Reserves are an essential part of our Defence Force.  They rely on the support of their family, employers and the wider community.  This certificate is issued in recognition of your support to Australian Defence Force reservists.”

The ADF provides a range of support to small businesses including Employer Support Payments, providing funds whilst the member is serving with the ADF.

Support to Operation COVID-19 ASSIST

James deployed to the State Control Centre as a Strategic Planner and worked across a range of operations assisting a range of State Government organisations.  He deployed for a total of 15 months from March 2020 through to February 2022.  For his service he was awarded the Conspicuous Service Medal.

“Not only was it a great opportunity to support our community, but it was great to be able to use ADF planning methodologies to support operations”, stated James of his experience.  “I think the ADF is Australia’s best leadership training institution.  With a strong focus on leadership development through the entire training continuum, alongside challenging opportunities to lead, whether on exercise or on Operations, ADF members develop an great ability to lead teams in a diverse range of situations.  Extreme Networks has benefited greatly from the leadership training that I have received from Army and certainly would have have been as successful had I not been a reservist.”

You can read more about James’ experience on Op COVID-19 ASSIST in this article that he wrote.

The award was recognition of the way the Tina Eling and the whole of Team Extreme stepped up to support our customers during the very trying times of Covid-19.
